The Instituto del Bien Común (IBC) provides advice and support to institutional programs and their counterparts on issues related to mapping production, zoning, GIS (georeferenced information systems), deforestation monitoring, native community titling, territorial mapping and legal advocacy. It also helps safeguard the rights of indigenous peoples, including uncontacted tribes or those who are in initial contact. Additionally, IBC works to bring about changes in public policies for the benefit of indigenous peoples and other local populations. Finally, it is engaged in the production and dissemination of information on indigenous peoples, their territories, and their relationship with protected natural areas, forest resources, and hydrocarbon and mining lots, among others.
